Why Rotary? Paul Crowley
Paul Crowley-Co-Chair of Community Service
What do you do for a profession and with what company?
I am a retired Circuit Court Judge and now work as a self-employed mediator.
Why did you join Rotary?
To become more involved in the community.
What makes you stay in Rotary?
There are two main reasons. I joined Rotary over 30 years ago. Our club has changed significantly over the years. It has morphed from an exclusive male dominated organization to an inclusive group that better reflects our overall community. That has been truly good.
The second reason is the community service projects. We have progressed from the old days of simply holding fundraising events to a broader spectrum of projects designed to provide help where help is needed.
What is your most memorable Rotary moment?
During the pandemic our club partnered with the local food bank. We provided volunteers to help with food distribution for all their shifts. During that odd scary dystopian period one more than one occasion a tear trickled down the cheek of a recipient who was overwhelmed by the kindness extended to them.
